The U11 Blues met Coventrians Phoenix at Holbrooks Park and played their best game of the season so far. Having taken a sound beating by the same team back in March, Blues got their revenge in style, with a quality performance all round. Noah outsprinted the Cov defence in the fist minute and coolly slotted past the keeper, and the goals kept coming with Noah (4), Sam, James and Gopal all scoring before half time. The solitary reply was ruled offside by the linesman, only for the ref to overrule the decision and give the goal and then tell us our linesman was too young. The defence was solid throughout with Gopal, George M and Warren/Harrison bossing it. In goal Olly had a cracking game with everything sticking, and kicks going long.
The second half carried on much the same, with the Blues in charge – James was a constant threat down the right, and he & Tyler added to the scoresheet, with just a scruffy goal conceded. Harrison, George C and Tom G all played their part with quality through balls, while Gopal was relentless in never giving up a chase, and Warren was up for the fight even with the bigger lads. MOTM went to Noah for his quality in front of goal and all round contribution.
All in all a very good day for the Blues, and hopefully they will take confidence from this after their tough start to the season.
